Two of Swords

Two of Swords

As with all the twos within tarot, the Two of Swords is ruled by the second Sefirah upon the tree of life, Chokmah, a Hebrew word rendered as “wisdom” in English. Not a status exclusive to the Two of Swords I may add, but all the twos. Nevertheless, this attribution brings a unique insight and perspective, important information when reading this significant card. As the change needed, so the advice of today’s mind-oriented card comes from a deep place, understandings that will take you into a more positive and fruitful direction.

This particular version of the Two of Swords offers an interesting approach, inspires an enlightening and empowering message. Within the scene of the card, we see a young lady dressed as a warrior, with a sense of guard and defence about her. An exciting development, departure from the traditional, more static, contemplative interpretation. Shifting the cards nuance into a more active and physically imposing stance and energy. Offering an unusual and unique perspective and advice that she brings.

This dualistic card often turns up within a reading when indecision or inner conflict is at play, a difficult choice to take, a challenging decision to be made.

Perhaps you can identify with the vibe she represents, the energies she brings. If so, then the advice is to break the stalemate, for hesitation and indecision isn’t part of her character. She doesn’t suffer fools lightly, is quick-minded, doesn’t dither or isn’t afraid to use her weapon when provoked or needed. Even if her decisions don’t always necessarily align with her friends or acquaintances. For she’s a survivor, learned to trust her instincts, stand her ground and honour her choices.

Those who read tarot will be aware that the proceeding card brings its own challenges and difficulties, for discomfort may be necessary to get things moving or resolved. Think in terms of a medical procedure, dentistry for example. While the intervention may be unpleasant, even painful at times, the results can often be worth it. Necessary suffering to speed up a process that if neglected or left to its own devices, can often bring more significant pain or challenges.

Elementally, being an Air card, the Two of Swords central tenets of this dualistic card is focused upon the mind, logic so thought. Those frustrating and trying times when we can become conflicted, possibly paralysed with indecision. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t sort of situations.

But the message today is clear. For like all the twos within tarot, the Two of Swords is in the early stage of its journey, lots of movement and change can be made. Plenty of opportunities in the future to reassess, make micro-adjustments and improvements.

The advice today is to act decisively, get stagnant energies moving, while mindful that any pain you may encounter will be short-lived. A necessary inconvenience to reach your final place and success.

Behind this brave warrior, is a lone, but loyal Wolf. Symbolically representing her spirit guide, the soul that guards her gate, her spiritual companion, protector and guardian. This is the light that guides her, whispers words of encouragement into her mind, informs her intuition, inspires, and supports her.

This is a powerful reminder that your journey isn’t a solitary path, but you have a companion, a loving and devoted friend who walks beside you. Someone who traces every step you take, every decision you make, your light and protector, guardian and doorkeeper.

You’re actively encouraged to embrace the powerful and liberating energy that the Two of Swords brings today. Find renewed strength and courage to make a choice, stake a claim, get the ball rolling. Allowing things to move forward, a practical and constructive step in the right direction. A positive action to free your mind, break the mould, in the knowledge that change needn’t be permanent. For there will be lots of opportunities to reconsider and make new plans. For today is the perfect time to make incremental changes that will take you into the arms of your victory and success.
