Two of Pentacles

Balance. The Ultimate Goal

“Your hand opens and closes, opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open, you would be paralysed. Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding, the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated as birds’ wings.”
By Jelaluddin Rumi

“Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner.”

Today’s message comes from the Two of Pentacles. There are two aspects to us all, the exterior, the part we like to present to the world and the interior, the more hidden and covert aspects of our personality. The person we know we really are, the traits about ourselves that we may feel less confident or comfortable sharing with others.

When this card arrives on the table it can bring many messages, but today it brings a message of unity and balance, the call to find that sweet spot between the two. For if we become too open, particularly with the wrong people, we become vulnerable and open to control and manipulation, but the opposite is equally as damaging. For if we don’t take risks, reach out and trust, then sadly we can become closed off from the world, introverted, untrusting and blocked. Both are equally as destructive, and the solution is to find balance between the two. Not an easy state to achieve, but a worthy pursuit and the healthiest way forward.

There is a spiritual symbol that illustrates that perfect state of balance, the lemniscate, the infinity sign if you’re unfamiliar. The place where the lines meet is the balance of opposites, when we throw an object in the air, that magical place where it is neither moving nor falling, that is the place we are called to find. You are invited to open up, share your life with others, the call to find the perfect balance between the two.

For when we find the courage to become truly open, our actions will be self-selective, those who truly accept us for who we are will love and embrace us fully, and those who don’t will distance, disconnect and fall away. Only when you’re ready, when the time feels right, you are urged to find that sacred place where you can fully express yourself, that authentic position where you are comfortable to share your true nature and magnificent beautiful self.
