The Judgement Card
I’ve always found the traditional rendering of this rather gory card fascinating, a scene of an eerie graveyard, with a vision of a great angel awakening corpses from their graves. I also like the idea of Crowley’s Aeon card, a card that moves the biblical idea into new directions, a birth of the new age, a calling to depart from the old and embrace a new transition and cycle.
Ahead lies a great doorway, a mystical passage that divides the light from the dark, the threshold we all must cross at the time of our demise. When our deeds will be counted and the opportunity to adjust will be given. This is the great gate of our workings, the results of our making.
When this card shows up in a reading, we’re called to express ourselves from the knowledge and lessons we’ve gained, an invitation to examine the bigger picture. A time to consolidate our spiritual understanding, the knowledge needed to embrace the next chapter in life.
This transforming regenerative phoenix inspired card is inviting you to examine and surrender old ways, past actions and events that are holding you back, spiritual philosophies that are limiting your development and growth.
Like a garden that needs love and tender care. It’s time to roll up your sleeves, get your hands in the soil and pluck out the wilting ideas, dig up the rotten roots, make room for the new growth, open up space and let the light flood in.
Like decaying fruit fallen from the great tree of life, we all carry remorse and regret. As the summer warms the land, change brings new life, fresh growth. Let the light of the judgment card Illume and liberate your soul as you’re entering a new aeon in your evolution. This isn’t a card of Judgment, but a card of affirmation and awakening, a calling from the great goddess to rise up, put your knowledge into action, to find the strength to let go, move on, and the courage to express your true nature.
