Seven of Pentacles
There are many differences between Waite and Crowley’s deck, and here lies another, the Seven of Pentacles, disks when referring to today’s card taken from the Mary-El, a card that embraces the bitter taste of Crowley’s interpretation, and boy is it caustic! The keyword upon the Thoth card is “failure”, but don’t abandon ship quite yet, for there is hope in this card if you’re prepared to roll up your sleeves, put in the hard work and ride it out.
Astrologically this card is anchored to Saturn, the planet of restrictions and responsibility, while coupled to the shadowy aspects of Taurus, expressing itself in quite a sluggish and static way. The combination, well being as generous as possible, is pretty damn challenging.
You may feel drawn to the past, stuck in old patterns of thinking. Being an earth card, you may feel increasingly pessimistic about money issues, worried about debt, a job situation, health etc. Your stress and anxiety may be building, even depression could be present. This is just the tip of the cold iceberg that this oppressive card can represent.
But you don’t think tarot will leave you there, abandon you on the roadside and drive away? Of course not! There’s an important message to be heard. Here is the powerful truth, you’ve been here before, and you’ll get through this period too. But this time you’re encouraged to embrace a different strategy, roll up your sleeves and face your problems head-on. To quote the American politician Colin Powell, “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure”.
Don’t give in, develop a plan, work towards a goal, put your resources into finding an effective way forward. Reach out, get the advice you need, but “failure” is not an option! While these times may feel rather bleak, like the dark months of winter, rest assured, brighter days are on their way.
