The Nine of Pentacles

Traditionally the Nine of Pentacles is a card of positivity, wealth and success. The Magical order known as the Golden Dawn named this card “Lord of Material Gain.” Issues related to matter, one’s physical abundance and wellbeing, but there is an even more empowering aspect to this card, the gift of life itself!

This can be found in the numerological aspects of this card, For if you add the numbers 1 to 9, you get 45, so 1+2+3+4 +5+6+7+8+9= 45, and if you add those numbers together, 4+5, we magically return to the number we started from, number 9. Like life itself, we are in a perpetual cycle of expansion and growth. If you draw the number 9 on a piece of paper, it will form a spiral which will continue to expand infinitely, an endless cycle of development and unfoldment.

Now here is the empowering insight that the Nine of Pentacles brings to you today. Unfortunately, many of us can become so focused upon perfection, the state we believe we must attain to reach success, that we become detached from the journey.

One of the great conundrums and secrets of tarot, if life is eternal, then there must be no end, and if there is no end, then there must be no completion. So, one’s quest for perfection, by nature must be illusory, as perfection has a close relationship with completion. Why is this relevant? Because the state we believe to be perfection, is in truth robbing us of the joy and experience of life itself.

For despite what you may perceive as a conclusion. Here lies a mystical truth, all ends are fractal doorways to new openings so beginnings. For after the 9, we get 10, the card that takes us back to the number one, as we start our new, but evolved cycle all over again.

Don’t let the quest for perfection rob you of your Nine of Pentacles moment, so lose the illusion of perfection and completion, but embrace the process, experience and gifts of life!
