Knight of Cups
The Knight of Cups is traditionally read as a card of romance, the Knight in shining armour, but today he bares another type of message. He holds a golden chalice tenderly within his hand, a symbol that represents the heart, the thoughts that lay most heavily upon his soul are carefully placed within that chalice. You’ve heard the phrase; “He wears his heart upon his sleeve.” He knows it’s time to share his most intimate emotions in an honest and open way.
There are times in life when we need to be strong, hold our nerve, keep our cards close to our chest, and there are times when we need to loosen our grip, trust a little more, to become vulnerable, to surrender control.
You are the Knight within today’s reading, you’re being urged to open up, let your guard down and trust in the skills and guidance of others. While we may feel invincible, able to deal with daily challenges and issues that life can throw at us. We’re only human, become stressed, overwhelmed and fragile. It’s not a sign of weakness to reach out, to allow others in, for it takes courage, trust and strength.
Each of the four Knights within the tarot wears a suit of armour. A heavy garment worn to protect against outside attack, possible injury and harm. The Knight of Cups knows he most remove his protection, to become open and accessible. Give yourself permission to lower your guard, to become open and vulnerable, and in doing so, you open the door to your healing, the love from others, your guidance, comfort and support.
